- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 2 tablespoons cocoa powder for chocolate wafers
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt (and cocoa powder if making chocolate wafers).
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture, alternating with milk, until a smooth dough forms.
Shape the Cookies:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch (3 mm).
Use a cookie cutter to cut out desired shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Cool:
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
- For a richer flavor, you can dip half of each cooled wafer into melted chocolate and let it set before serving.
- Store the wafers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
