Ingredients

For the Meat Sauce:

1 lb ground beef
½ lb Italian sausage (optional)
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
½ cup water
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp sugar

For the Ricotta Mixture:

1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
1 large egg
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp dried parsley or basil

For Assembling the Lasagna:

12 San Giorgio Lasagna noodles (regular or no-boil)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Meat Sauce

1️⃣ Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and sausage, cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
2️⃣ Add onion and garlic, cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
3️⃣ Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and water.
4️⃣ Season with Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and sugar.
5️⃣ Simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 2: Make the Ricotta Mixture

6️⃣ In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and dried parsley.
7️⃣ Mix until smooth and well blended.

Step 3: Cook the Lasagna Noodles (If Using Regular Noodles)

8️⃣ Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
9️⃣ Cook San Giorgio Lasagna noodles according to package directions.
🔟 Drain and lay flat on a baking sheet to prevent sticking.

💡 No-boil noodles? Skip this step and proceed with layering.

Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna

1️⃣1️⃣ Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
1️⃣2️⃣ Spread 1 cup of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
1️⃣3️⃣ Layer 3-4 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
1️⃣4️⃣ Spread ⅓ of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
1️⃣5️⃣ Sprinkle ½ cup mozzarella cheese and a bit of Parmesan.
1️⃣6️⃣ Repeat two more times, ending with noodles, sauce, and cheese on top.

💡 Want extra cheesiness? Add an extra ½ cup of mozzarella to the top layer!

Step 5: Bake the Lasagna

1️⃣7️⃣ Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
1️⃣8️⃣ Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
1️⃣9️⃣ Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

💡 For a crispy top, broil for the last 2-3 minutes, but watch closely!
